And The Walls Came Tumbling Down
Runs: 26.03.2004 to 28.05.2005

An exhibition of giant collages combining photographs, drawings and computer images produced by 6-8 year old children from St Edward's Primary School, Rusholme, Manchester.

Since the school was built it has stood in the shadow of the Manchester City Football Stadium at the heart of a vibrant, established urban community. The school and the local community have shared the success and failure of Manchester City alongside the thousands of fans who have come and gone each week from this tightly packed network of terraced streets and corner shops.

Now, this is all changing with the move of the club to its new stadium in East Manchester and the demolition of Maine Road. Due to its location the impact of this change will be greatest for the children who go to St Edwards, their families who bring them to school each day and for those who were pupils there themselves.

This exhibition records the children's feelings, in images and words, about the changes that are taking place in the built environment around their school and their homes.
