At the Hub of Things
Runs: 01.12.2005 to 16.12.2005 Coordinator: CUBE
Students, staff and artists from Education @ CUBE have worked together at the Richmond Centre in Manchester to create this exhibition. The students who have worked on this project are referred to the Centre when they are excluded from mainstream education due to their behaviour or approach to learning. The staff of the Centre invited Education @ CUBE to collaborate on a project to assist the student’s learning process and to develop their sense of citizenship and the feeling of belonging to the city in which they live. The aims of this project are contained in the words of John Byrne, the project artist: “ In cities we sometimes get lost: we meet dead ends, we’re forced to go around; to take new routes; to explore new places. When we explore new places we learn new things about our surroundings and ourselves. We learn what the city means to us and what it is to belong; what it is to be At The Hub of Things! Share our journey.” The exhibition will be at: The Young Persons Gallery, CUBE, 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester from Thursday 1st December - Friday 16th December. The RENEW Rooms, The Tea Factory, 82 Wood Street, Liverpool from Tuesday 24th January – Friday 17th February
