STREET TRAINING MANCHESTER
Street Training is a creative movement and thinking, it's looking at structures and boundaries both visible and invisible in the city as opportunities for creative engagement with one's self, others and the built environment. Street Training is an emergent 21st century Martial Art. It required commitment and sustained practice, and encompasses the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of being. It rewards the Street Trainer with incremental changes in their ability to defend themselves against the bombardment of city life, and shape their environment positively. It teaches us that, by focusing out thoughts and behavior, we can have an effect on our surroundings equal to that which our surroundings exert upon us.
It's moving in unfamiliar ways such as walking with one foot in the road and one on the pavement, transgressing thresholds of expected behavior in order to reveal social and self-imposed limits. Street Training highlights boundaries, borders and controls inherent in urban built infrastructure
