INNOVATION BAZAAR

The Innovation Bazaar is an open innovation marketplace based around the theme of “new ways of working.” The Innovation Bazaar is looking for concepts located between the point of an idea and the first prototype, making it different to, and more inclusive than, other exhibitions or awards for innovation. Innovation Bazaar 2010

From the initial call for submissions, the best ideas will be exhibited in the CUBE for a week from 29th June, 2010 - 5th July, 2010. During the exhibition investors, business angels, product developers and institutions will be encouraged to peruse the ideas and to submit ‘bids’ in a blind auction, based on the support and resources they can offer to take the idea further. At the end of the exhibition the Innovation Bazaar event will allow those with the ideas to mingle with those with the resources and knowledge of how to realise the full potential of their work. What is a blind auction?

A blind auction is best described in contrast with a conventional auction. In a conventional auction individuals sequentially and publicly bid on an item with each bid being slightly higher than the previous bid. In a blind auction individuals submit bids privately and simultaneously with the eventual winner revealed after a period of time. The Innovation Bazaar takes the concept of the blind auction further by inviting bids that are not necessarily directly related to a financial amount (although this is an option) but could also be offers of skills, services, support or a combination. The winner of the blind auction will consequently be less clear but we believe more beneficial to the ideas on exhibition. Should you participate?

The Innovation Bazaar is aimed at anyone with an idea including:

* students at college or university; * recent graduates; * freelancers and the self‐employed; * small business owners or anyone, anywhere with an idea for a new product or service,

we only ask that it addresses in some way the key theme of “new ways of working.”
