MAKING HOMES AS WARM AS DUVETS

Passivhaus products exhibition
CUBE gallery, Manchester

The North West Construction Knowledge Hub (NWCKH) is hosting an exhibition of Passivhaus products at the CUBE gallery in Manchester, in conjunction with Passivhaus specialists Green Building Store.. The exhibition will run throughout July and August 2010 at CUBE (www.cube.org.uk) at 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester, M1 6DW (Tel: 0161 237 5525).

The Passivhaus products in the exhibition area include:

· Passivhaus windows and doors: These are among the most thermally efficient windows and doors available in the UK (and the world!), with whole U values as low as 0.65 W/m2K. Available in FSC 100% sustainably-sourced timber or timber and fibreglass composite.

· Pro Clima airtightness membranes and tapes: These building products can help buildings achieve the high levels of airtightness required for Passivhaus buildings, as well as protecting building structures from condensation, mould, rot and damp through use of 'intelligent' vapour checks.

· PAUL Comfort Ventilation (MVHR) systems: Comfort ventilation (also known as Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery) is an essential part of Passivhaus building design and helps circulate air and keeps heat in the building, through use of a heat exchanger. PAUL's heat exchanger is one of the most efficient on the market and can offer exceptional heat recovery of up to 92%. Green Building Store has recently completed construction of the Denby Dale Passivhaus, which is the UK's first cavity wall Passivhaus and subject of BUILDING's popular Passivhaus Diaries blog.

Green Building Store will also be previewing its technical DVD on 'Building the Denby Dale Passivhaus' at CUBE. Visitors to the exhibition will get a chance to see clips of the film and to register for the free technical DVD and briefing materials.

The North West Construction Knowledge Hub is led by The Centre for Construction Innovation (CCI) and the University of Salford's School of the Built Environment (SoBE), and is hosting the exhibition as part of CCI's and CUBE's promotion of sustainable construction and will help demonstrate Passivhaus as a good design and construction method for the North West.

Please note that if you would like to discuss the products in more depth, Green Building Store's Mike Shufflebotham would also be available to meet up at the Passivhaus exhibition on Friday afternoons in July and August To book an appointment please:
