CUBE is one of Europe's most exciting art, architecture and design centres, dedicated to broadcasting the ideas and issues that lie behind the buildings, spaces and cultural networks that make up our built environment.

What is CUBE?

CUBE is the only dedicated space for exhibitions and informal learning related to architecture and the built environment in the North West. Our purpose built gallery space is over 500 square metres. CUBE delivers exhibitions of International merit, such as the award winning Co-evolution from the Danish Architecture Centre, Alan Fletcher: Fifty years of graphic work and play (from the Design Museum) and Shrinking Cities from Berlin. Part of the gallery houses the innovative North West Construction Knowledge Hub (NWCKH). The NWDA's North West Construction Knowledge Hub aims to help small and medium size enterprises be more productive, more efficient and environmentally friendly.

CUBE is supported by the Centre for Construction Innovation (CCI) and forms part of the University of Salford under the School of the Built Environment.

We are a well recognised public interface between the public and organisations such as the Manchester School of Architecture, regional colleges, The Manchester Society of Architects, URBIS, URBED, the Science Festival, Manchester International festival and the annual FutureEverything festival.

We aim to work with the public, educators, industry and professionals, politicians, artists, designers, architects and planners, public sector, youth workers, business people, Green Peace, community workers, influencers/innovators, policy makers and those who have the potential to inspire.

CUBE has worked with artists, architects and designers on the development and realisation of temporary and permanent public artworks including:

• Flailing Trees with Gustav Metzger, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Manchester International Festival and the Whitworth Art Gallery.
• ‘How Yellow is Manchester?’ a new commission for the Building Initiative (Berlin)
• ‘Street Training’ a new commission for London based artist Lottie Child
• ‘Iconic Site’ a new commission of work by artist/architect duo Sans Façon
• ‘Take Away garden’ a new commission for Manchester based artist Jason Minsky and architect Stefan White.
