Artist Leo Fitzmaurice has been shortlisted for this year's Northern Art Prize in recognition for an innovative body of work that uses public signage and branding as raw materials to be subverted and reconstructed. Leo Fitzmaurice is currently exhibiting his latest exhibition, Post Match, at CUBE gallery.
"Fitzmaurice is known for his witty installations and sculptures which use packaging, design and signage. By deconstructing everyday objects and products to rework them into something that encourages a different viewpoint, he consistently reinvents everyday matter from cigarette packets and cereal boxes to catalogues and comics into architectural and colourful installations."
